What does coffee mean to you, and what do you love about it?
Coffee, to me, is a connection. Not just the connection to the cup you’re making — the origin, the process, the intention behind it — but the connection with the people you share it with.
What I love most in coffee, especially in specialty coffee, is that creativity is always welcome. Whether it’s dialing in for competition, brewing on an AeroPress, or just serving someone their first properly extracted cup — there’s always something to learn, refine, and share.
What is your experience with Comandante grinders, and what do you like about them?
I like the Comandante grinder because they deliver precise, consistent grinds, thoughtful build quality, and a tactile brewing ritual — all of which elevate the coffee experience and help you get the most out of your beans. They’re a grinder that many people feel proud to own and use every day.
Why did you apply for the Comandante Championship?
I applied because I want to learn more and improve my skills alongside fellow competitors.
How was the competition for you?
I never expected to go far in the competition. I honestly just wanted to show up, hang out, and enjoy the companionship — while still doing my best on stage. What I really enjoy is the sharing of experiences, learning from each other, and feeling that quiet thrill once the timer starts. Win or lose, it’s the people and the moments that make it worth it.
What is your advice for future competitors?
Practice more with your friends and grow together.
Sharpen your skills, exchange ideas, taste each other’s brews, and push one another to improve. In specialty coffee, progress is faster — and more meaningful — when it’s shared.
What are your future goals?
My future goal is to become a true coffee professional — someone who not only makes great coffee, but deeply understands it.
