Mario José González Rodríguez is the proud owner of Finca El Avión, a family-run farm born from a dream—to produce the finest specialty coffee in Nicaragua. That dream became a reality in 2022 when El Avión earned 1st place in the Cup of Excellence with a score of 90.74.

This milestone is the result of years of hard work, shared between Mario, his family, and a dedicated team of collaborators who make it possible to produce award-winning coffees now enjoyed around the world.

Finca El Avión spans 100 manzanas, with 20 dedicated to coffee production. The main varieties grown are Red Catuai and Catimor. Coffee planting began in 2012, and from the very first harvest, the farm has focused on specialty-grade quality. The farm’s elevation ranges from 1,400 to 1,800 meters above sea level, with its highest point reaching 1,835 MASL—ideal conditions for cultivating exceptional beans.
