Fazenda Tijuco |🥇1st Place
Fazenda Tijuco is located in Piatã, Bahia, within the scenic Chapada Diamantina region. At an elevation of 1,268 meters above sea level, Piatã is the highest city in Brazil's North and Northeast—and also one of the coldest, with winter temperatures ranging from 2°C to 17°C. These unique conditions create an ideal environment for cultivating specialty coffee.
The farm was acquired ten years ago by its current producer, inspired and supported by his father, Antonio Rigno de Oliveira—a seasoned coffee grower. Coming from a coffee-producing family, he quickly developed a passion for cultivation and began investing in quality, leveraging Piatã’s exceptional terroir.
Harvesting is done entirely by hand using local labor, with many women playing a key role in the process. Only well-ripened cherries are selected, which are then transported by tractor to the drying patio. Drying is carefully guided by technical expertise to ensure optimal quality, and the coffee is stored with care to preserve its attributes.
Thanks to a growing mastery of production techniques and his father’s mentorship, the producer has earned numerous awards over the years. He is a regular finalist in the Cup of Excellence, with his best result being a 3rd place finish in 2014.
