Finca Santa Cruz |🥇1st Place

Finca Santa Cruz is located between 1,400 and 1,700 meters above sea level, adjacent to the Triunfo Biosphere Reserve in Chiapas, Mexico. Owned by the Argüello Enríquez family, the farm enjoys a temperate climate with an annual average temperature of 20°C and optimal growing conditions for specialty coffee.

With 3,333 coffee plants per hectare ranging in age from 8 to 15 years, the farm cultivates a diverse selection of varieties including Typica, Bourbon, Maragogipe, Yellow Caturra, Marsellesa, Gesha, and several experimental varieties such as SL-28, SL-34, Rume Sudan, Yellow Tabi, Maracaturra, and Java.

Seven years ago, Finca Santa Cruz began focusing on producing high-end specialty coffee. Their protocol-driven approach—tracking time, temperature, Brix degrees, and fermentation phases—ensures a consistent cup profile year after year. All cherries are selectively hand-picked at peak ripeness and processed with strict quality controls.

José Argüello, the youngest family member, leads the farm’s specialty coffee efforts alongside his wife, Berenice Coutiño Ruiz, and their three children. José’s mission has been to show that Mexican coffees can compete on the world stage—and he has succeeded.
