Bahagia Ginting, 42, is originally from Berastagi, North Sumatra. In 2012, following the prolonged eruption of Mount Sinabung, he relocated to Takengon, Central Aceh. There, he purchased a small plot of land in the village of Wih Ilang and began cultivating coffee—an endeavor that soon turned into a passion.
Though he had prior experience growing other crops, Bahagia found coffee farming to be more rewarding, both emotionally and financially. He planted his first coffee trees in 2014, choosing the Super Ateng P88 variety. Over the years, he expanded his farm to three hectares, which he now runs alongside his wife, with the support of their three children.
In the 2022/2023 season, Bahagia submitted his coffee—processed using the natural method—to the Cup of Excellence Indonesia. The cherries were carefully handpicked at peak ripeness, floated and sorted, and then dried at the Ribang Gayo Musara Cooperative, of which Bahagia is a proud member.
With great care, determination, and hope, Bahagia shares his story and his coffee with the world—dreaming that one day, his hard work will earn him top recognition.
