What is your job, and where do you live and work?

I’m an EHS Engineer, and I live and work in Cartago, Costa Rica.

What does coffee mean to you, and what do you love about it?

Coffee means a lot to me. It’s a daily ritual that helps me slow down and enjoy a quiet moment in the middle of a busy day. It’s also something I love sharing with my family and friends. Thanks to coffee, I’ve met amazing people and built friendships with others who share the same passion.

What I love most is how one coffee can offer so many different experiences. It’s fascinating that something as simple as changing the brewing technique can completely transform the flavours in the cup. That’s what keeps me curious and always wanting to learn more.

What is your experience with Comandante grinders, and what do you like about them?

My experience has been excellent. Buying a Comandante was one of the best investments I’ve made in my coffee journey. I love how simple it is to use and, most importantly, how consistent the grind quality is. It’s a grinder I know I can always rely on.

Why did you apply for the Comandante Championship?

Honestly, I signed up to have fun! I competed in the first championship in Costa Rica, and I had such a great experience that I wanted to do it again. This time, my only goal was to enjoy the event, connect with the community, and have a good time. Winning was an unexpected and incredible bonus.

How was the competition for you?

It was an amazing experience. I was definitely nervous at the beginning, but after brewing my first coffee and feeling the positive energy from everyone around me, I relaxed, gained confidence, and really enjoyed every round.

What is your advice for future competitors?

Just give it a try. Don’t think of it only as a competition - see it as an opportunity to learn. The coffee community is full of people who are happy to share a cup, exchange ideas, and help each other grow. Don’t let yourself wonder what could have happened if you had entered.

What are your future goals?

I’m always looking for new challenges. I’d love to compete in more coffee events, and in the medium to long term, I hope to build a career around coffee in one way or another—whether that’s growing coffee, opening my own café, or starting another coffee-related project. I’m excited to see where this passion takes me.
