Bella Elizabeth | đ„One Of A Kind
Finca Bella Elizabeth, located in San Pedro Necta, Huehuetenango, was acquired by Don Florencio Modesto Argueta Villatoro on March 23, 1954. The first plantations included Typica, Bourbon, and Maragogipe, planted with precisionâtwo meters between bushes and between rows. After Don Modesto's passing in 1978, his children Ălvaro Rene, Erwin Modesto, and Magnolia Argueta Figueroa took over the farm's management.
In 2000, when the farm was divided, Erwin Modesto introduced new coffee varieties such as Caturra, Catuai, and Pache Verde. After his passing in 2004, his son Erwin Humberto Argueta Herrera became the third-generation steward of the farm and renamed it Bella Elizabeth in honor of his daughter, Ana Elizabeth.
In 2015, faced with the challenges of coffee rust, the farm began focusing on quality-driven production. Their efforts paid off with a 4th place finish in Anacafé's regional competition. In 2016, they entered the Cup of Excellence, earning 6th place, and returned in 2017 to place 26th. The farm continues to preserve traditional varieties while experimenting with promising new ones such as Villa Sarchi, Gesha, and Pacamara.
In 2021, Bella Elizabeth took 2nd place in the Highland Huehue regional competition and participated in the first edition of One of a Kind Guatemala, placing 18th. Despite challenges brought on by the pandemic and migration, the farm is adaptingâplanting new varieties and adjusting planting methods to improve efficiency while maintaining quality.
Today, Bella Elizabeth is proud to be part of AnacafĂ©âs Sustainable Profitability Program, aiming to operate not just as a farm, but as a resilient, quality-focused coffee enterprise.
