La Esperanza |🥇 Washed
Samuel Zavala and his family are the recent winners of the first place Cup of Excellence in the washed category in Nicaragua. He represents a family tradition that began with his grandfather 45 years ago.
The win is the result of the arduous work of the entire team at their farm, Finca La Esperanza, located in the municipality of Dipilto. The farm is special due to its unique microclimate and nutrient-rich soil, with an altitude ranging from 1200 to 1420 meters above sea level.
Finca La Esperanza spans 10 hectares, with nine dedicated to coffee production and one hectare set aside for forest conservation. On the farm, they are developing exotic varieties like Sidra, Geisha, and Chiroso, alongside Nicaragua's flagship varieties, including Maracaturra.
The specific coffee that secured the first-place victory was a Geisha variety brought directly from Panama, which yielded excellent results in its first year of harvest. This achievement also holds a special significance for the family, as Samuel's father won a first-place award with the same farm 20 years ago. Their work philosophy is to always put God first and to believe that "work conquers all."
