What is your job and where do you live and work?
I work in coffee. I also recently organized The "Latte Karate" Throwdown in Vienna.
What does coffee mean to you and what do you love about it?
Let me say this: The universe is 99.999% made out of dark matter, and nobody really knows what dark matter is - maybe it's coffee? That's what coffee means to me, and I love its diversity.
What is your experience with Comandante grinders and what do you like about them?
It was true love at first sight. I'm a big fan of hand grinders and this one just changed my life. The grinding experience is so delightful that it makes me wake up to drink coffee, rather than the other way around.
Why did you apply for the Comandante Grind and Brew Cup?
It was at Dayglow, the evening before the World Cup Tasting Championship in Chicago, where I participated as well. I signed up mostly to meet people, explore the place, and have a blast at the party! It was my second attempt at the Comandante competition, so I knew I could find it all there!
How was the competition for you?
Challenging! Even though it's not far from my daily routine, competing against great coffee people and brewing for a rigorous panel of judges is always tough. Luckily, the coffee was just amazing. I enjoyed all the brews.
What are your future goals?
Comandante World Champion! Meantime, I'll keep on exploring the coffee world.
What is your advice for future competitors?
Here's my advice: Take a shot! Compete, because you'll miss 100% of the shots you don't take. And here's my second piece of advice: Never compete just to win. Set up your own personal goals and expectations. This way, it's much easier and more enjoyable, and you can always be the winner!
